infinity 3.5 onto our bottom end?

hey my buddy with a max is doing an engine swap. he's got a brand new, and i mean BRAND NEW, vq30DE. the car it had one oil change before the car was totaled and he's got the engine from it. i mentioned that you can throw a 3.5 into our engine bay to him, or mate a 3.5 top to our bottom end, which would be preferable for him so he can still use his headers. now he has come across a 3.5 from a g35. he likes the idea of have VVT and such.

is it possible to throw in the top end of the g35 engine onto our bottom end? i assume he would have to use a computer from a g35 because of the VVT and all the other differences...also there is the drive by wire which he would have to overcome...

anyways i told him i'd post a thread about it to see what your guys opinions/thoughts are on it. i hope Tilley has a comment or two also.

basically:
can he mate the bottom and top ends together?
can he just throw in the whole g35 engine in + computer + slight mods?
can he make this work or should he just look into throwing in a regular 3.5 from a newer max, no bottom/topend mating...?

i hope i explained this all correctly.
all thought and opinions are welcome.

You REALLY need to read the All Motor Forums. All those questions are answered there. One quick thing, putting the 3.5 heads on the 3.0 bottom end will make more power from the better flowing heads, BUT it will be countered somewhat from the drop in compression, idk by how much though. Seriously, the only reason to do such thing would be if you want to run boost. If you're going for all motor then the hybrid 3.0TOP/3.5BOTTOM or the full 3.5 would be the way to go. Another thing, VVT is effective pretty much only at the bottom end of the powerband. after 3xxx rpm it doesn't do a dang thing IIRC

I don't think the G35 VQ will swap as easily as the VQ35 from the max. I believe the engine is sitting different due to the RWD tranny in the G35. Your friend would probably be better off putting the entire 3.5 form a max. It would be less hastle in my opinion....

G35/rwd/vq35, maxima/fwd/vq35 mounts are different as far as i know. IM wont work due too hood clearance. Coolant lines are routed different. too much work just get a FWD vq.
