Hey everyone~

I'm considering adding a Cattmann SS Y-pipe and a GReddy Catback Exhaust to my Maxima. I was just curious if this setup would be loud? Also, how much would this setup run me and can I expect any gains in power? I don't have any plans for intake or anything.

Thanks,
-Nick

I'm not sure how loud it would be, I have the Greddy cat-back but I don't have a y-pipe (it would put me in a much tougher SCCA class). The Greddy is kinda loud by itself but I like it. I don't think there is much hp to gain just from the Greddy; maybe 2-3.

The y-pipe makes pretty good hp, but would do much better if you put a CAI on the other side. After all, an engine is just a pump. If you can get the intake AND exhaust to flow better, you will make more hp.

I am debating whether or not to get a Place Racing CAI too.

That was the first mod I did 2 years ago, and I have never regretted it.

That's not a bad price since they go for $550 new. I got mine off of E-bay for $250, but it had cosmetic damage.

If you're concerned with noise, don't do the greddy mod. By itself, the greddy exhaust will make your car louder. Add the Y and its gets louder still. To get a decent power increase without that much of an increase in noise, do a CAI/Y or POP/Y combo. You can super size it later if you need to I've already done the CAI and saving up to get a Cattman SS Y. Then that's it for me.
