The CEL should light up if you have a bad 02 sensor. Did you check for codes? Can't you get Autozone to check for codes for free? We don't have them in British Columbia so I've never been to one. We have Canadian Tire, affectionately known as Crappy Tire and I don't know if they check codes for free, I kinda doubt it.
