If you're not gonna bolt it in, just wedge some cardboard or something in between the KS and the bottom of the intake:-)

Jus kiddin...

Car drives as if the knock sensor is bad which results in safe mode. If you ever had a bad ks (lag, poor gas mileage, etc) then that is probably what it feels like.

I don't think the question was dumb. I should've worded my concern. The concern is that I just bought a new ks and had an orger put it in for me. Apparently, he didnt bolt it in when he claimed he did (upon later inspection) So now i have a KS just dangling under my manifold, and the jersey streets aren't merciful.

I'd like to know with the ks just bouncing around in there, will it be prone to cracking and breaking? I just finally saved up to get one, and some kid douches me on the install. Hopefully he didnt flush 95 dollars out of me.

just get it bolted in right and reset the ECU, see if any codes come up. If ks codes come up, it might be busted.
