HELLP: Whats the best brand in carbon fiber hoods?
My insurance gave me 1800 for Hail Damage and the shop thats fixin my Max said they would Hook it up with a Hood swap if I pay the difference. My budget right now is 650$. The shop said I should get a VIS OEM style C.F hood but I check their sight and VIS doesnt make a 95-99 MAxima Hood... So I already know Fiber Images is good but I cant seem to find prices on the net. Please tell me what you guyz think and if possible post prices and links.. Thanks in Advance.

There is no good CF maxima hood, they ALL have either fitment issues or require additional coats of clear. Your best bet is to buy the cheapest or lightest you can find and put on another coator 2 of clear.

The shop Im at is gonna put those 350 towards a Carbon Fiber Hood and I
pay the difference outa my pocket and the stock hood doesnt get repaired... So 350 from my insurance and then est. of like 200-250 outa my pocket would
equal enough for a Carbon Fiber hood.... GEt me now?

I'm in the same boat as you all but not regarding the hail. A friend backed into my hood and it was quoted at $550 to repair it. I've been looking around at ebay ones and to tell you the truth those look sketchy as all hell but I am tempted to buy one.. (dont ask..feeling brave or something) Anyways any people have any experiences with current ebay CF hoods?.......

a cf hood isnt going to matter when you launch the car, its not going to hurt. i had a cf hood a while back and up close it looked like junk and made the car cheap looking. i would just locate a fiber images hood and buy that. just do a search on google. i hear fiber images is also the lightest.

I only wish. VIS bought a 4th gen hood about 3 weeks ago after me nagging them for ~4 months to even make one. It will probably be at least 3-6 weeks longer until it's ready. I won't have one til they release it..

I just talked to VIS and they said that there is a 4th gen hood ($527 shipped out of stock for now), but the ones on Ebay are more than likey not true VIS hoods. Buyer beware of the ebay "VIS" carbon fiber for 4th gens.

Thats a low estimate for a hood.
The QNO paint for the hood alone should run 300-350.
I got many quotes on painting of the hood when I first bought my CF hood.
i was going to paint the hood and leave the center cf.

For my hood, I payed 380.00 plus the shipping. It totaled out at 502.00 shipped.
If your in a hurry, your best bet is just to find one thats in stock from somewhere.
As stated before, the quality of them is all the same. They all seem to have some issues. Some are just luckier then others. Iver seen hoods from the same vendors have different issues.
A hood will always fit cars differently, theirs lots of factors to consider like if your car has ever been in a wreck, etc.

^^^ since they are allowing you 350 for a hood, find a CF one and pay the difference out of pocket......However, you need to tell the shop that the 350 they are giving you should also cover a few extra coats of clear, especially since they are getting out of having to do any painting
