did it with vinyl. only covered up the orange area. you can barely tell its a darker shade. i tried to do the whole housing, but that curve at the bottom was terribly hard. if you guys need the vinyl i can sell you some. i bought a whole roll of it since no one would sell me just a little. all you need is a spray bottle, hair dryer, x-acto knife and patience.

I used to cover that little lense in the white area too but left it out when i had to re-do it with much better quality vinyl.

Hey Nadir, what color vinyl did you use? Because on my Jeep I used Oracal #30 dark red and still have a ton leftover. My friend wanted to do it on his max but I think that maxima tails are a bit lighter than mine, so I think that he should order some #31 regular red so it looks right.

when I bought from Oracal, it was just "red" - not dark red.

I am pretty sure the # i used was 031 ... according to oracal's site, 031 is red. 030 is dark red.

Which series did you buy? I don't remember the series number ... 8500?

oracal tint is solid stuff. before that, I had tried it with some whatever tint from hobby shop and it faded after year. I wash/detail my car so many times.. this oracal film is quality stuff.

Ok thanks I will tell him to go for the #31 red then. I got the 8300 series and yes it is very high quality, mine has have been on for over a year with no peeling or fading. They say it is meant to last 5 year outdoors. When you re-did yours was it a pain to get the old stuff off? Did you need to use goo gone (or something similar) to remove all the residue?

yeah, i did use goo-gone because the old stuff was breaking up on me.. it was a pain

i double checked and you are right - 8300 series #031 is what you need.

Looks pretty good. I'm thinking about doing it with the spray paint instead. You think you'll have a hard time during inspection?

its vinyl. same stuff people used to make decals. its softer and doesnt crinkle up easily like window tint does.

hey tails look great! wish i did that! and sorry to point this out, i guess, but your burger left a little bit of a fade mark after shaving. with that gone, your *** would look sweet.
