Alternator/AC Compressor Belt Replacement ?
Alternator/AC Compressor Belt Replacement ?
Hi-
Well I replaced the belt that connects the alternator and ac compressor to the drive shaft. I ran over something and heard a clunk then the belt tears and rips and falls apart. I replaced it with a Gatorback belt that I bought from Autozone. I've read that you should just tighten the belt until it stops to squeal, correct?
Well my belt only squeals when I have the AC on so I tighten the belt and it goes away. After a little bit the belt will squeal again. Can you tighten the adjuster too tight? I just want to make sure that I'm not making it to tight and screwing up the belt somehow.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
