Is the 99 Maxima AC Compressor the Same as Infiniti
The AC compressor broke in my car and I was wondering if I can buy the infiniti and use it? Would it be a direct direct replacement or would I have to do some modifications? Thanks, David.

I wouldnt be to sure about that.
When my compressor went out, I purchased one from a 97.
When I installed it, the lines didnt fit, The openings on the compressor were just a bit too large and the lines wouldnt seal.
When I purchased the next one the dealership informed me to go by the production date of the car for the replacement.

Favor's correct, they used a couple of different compressors but you should be able to look up the part#'s and compare. If I remeber correctly they changed the number of grooves on the pulley sometime as well.
If your looking for a new/rebuilt compressor try courtesynissan and ask for the Maxima.org discount the discount was sizeable when I ordered mine. Conecilli and Jerry Rome have very good prices as well, but I didn't know about them when I replaced my compressor so I'm not sure how they compare. I've also ordered A/C parts from ACKits.com and have been very pleased with their prices and service, however Courtesy was able to beat their price on the compressor.
When researching compressors for my repair I was told over and over to avoid 4-seasons units. This is what most of the parts stores carry and they are the largest rebuilder but they have a pretty crappy reputation.
Good luck.
P.S. I'm looking for a cheap evaporator core, the only one I can find is from the dealer and is $$$ so if you happen to come across one please post where and how much.
