Well there can be many places....
1. Oil Pressure Sending Unit(I think that is what it's called)
2. Possibly one of the oil pans..Upper or lower.
3. One of the two timing chain covers.
4. Oil Filter

Basically there are many places it can be coming from....Try to find the highest point of where the leak is coming from. I had a leak in my rear timing cover.....

i say the oil pressure sending unit. That thing is notorious for going bad ... it's only a $7 part to replace from autozone too. The only thing is u need a really big socket for it .. i forget the size.

It's very easy to do it urself too. I think it's right there in the pic too ... at the end of the wire and where the connector is. U just unplug that, use the socket to remove the old sensor, and put in the new one. It looks like the leak originates from there too.. just sorta splashed everywhere else while driving.

make sure u get the one from autozone/pepboys/wherever (aftermarket) as the OEM one sucks

You said in your post that your timing chain cover leaks, are you sure this oil isn't from that leak?

I would suggest cleaning off as much oil as you can and then let the car set and idle for a while and check for any leaks. If this doesn't work you can buy leak dyes and a light that detects the dyes to help locate the cause. www.eastwood.com caries such kits.

Small leaks like this can be very hard to find because while driving the wind sprays it everywhere, that's why I recomend letting it idle instead of driving around.

:o)

Try either the 'water pump cover' or the 'chain tensioner cover'. If they are leaking, drain your oil (I think you have to?), remove the cover(s) (4 - 10mm bolts), scrape/clean the engine and cover until they are splotless and then apply Permatex Gray RTV Gasket Maker. Good luck.

It doesn't appear to be the oil pressure sending unit. I recently had mine replaced. I believe its located at the end of the oil pan closest to the back of the car, about under the front passenger seat.

lol. wrong side.

Get some engine cleaner like GUNK and clean the area nice. Then drive for a while and see where the oil is coming from. It could be coming from anywhere on the right side and those pictures tell nothing.

They do sell timing chain cover gaskets for the maxima 4th gens...I remember seeing it somewhere....

But if you look all the manuals and fsm, they come from the factory using a liquid gasket...

You can use Permatax Grey gasket or go out to dealer and they have their own gasket you can buy. Not too expensive. Anyways even if that is where the leak is coming from it is a very hard repair and very frustrating given that there is a limited space factor. It was so hard to do it while it was in the car...Also in my opinion you must me mechanically inclined, or if you are a noob at repairs just take it slow. I did it when i was just learning, also with help from others. Get all the resources you can get, take it very slow and don't guess on anything...Your dealing with your timing here. Just IM me on aim if you need anything else...
