bracing your bump in the trunk...

there's a thread like this in the audio forum, but very few people go there it seems like so im looking for your opinions.

for those of you that have subs, what do you do keep them in place? ive been toying with this ever since i got my system installed a couple weeks ago, and finally came up with something half decent. i dont really have show quality sounds in my car, so im more worried about function and less about looks, but it doesn't hurt to look good either. i still have to do some finalizing, like gettin **** centered and running the bass **** inside the car, but it looks pretty good and sounds even better..................btw they're 10" infinity reference

There are solutions in the audio forums.. piece of mdf and some brackets to hold it in place seems to be the easiest way.

yeah, howd you do that? i went to Menards (home depot) and got some carpet tape, it worked ok. stuck to the trunk carpet, but then sometimes the carpet would push to the trunk lid area, and wrinkle up. works alright i guess for $4

To hold my box in place I use one of the tie downs that ties things down on truck in the bed. Costs like $8 at walmart. Just hook it on the side of the fold down thing on the back seat, bring it around the front of the box and hook the other hook on the other side of the back seat fold down thing. Hope this explanation helps, ask if you need pictures.

You mean those bungee cords...Honestly I do want to install my system, but I'm not going to drill brackets into that carboard on the floor of the trunk. I did this with my corolla and all it ever did was tear holes into the floor of the trunk and all I had was a 10" rockford fosgate..

Make a false floor out of mdf, put it under the carpet, then use the brackets. That way it wont rip through the cardboard.

You realize MDF is wood, right? U usually have to make another floor for the trunk, the cardboard doesn't usually hold up for a heavy set of subs.

or u can get a box made that fits perfectly in the corner and the hinges from the trunk rub it just enough to hold it in place...or put a piece of ply wood under the carpet and use some L-brackets to secure the box to the pywood under the carpet

i just did the bungee cord thing, i just wipped it together real fast. i have a couple of cords going around the bottom of the box and then one cord attached to the cords going around the bottom, that cord goes up the middle of the box and then latches to the metal that is in that trunk opening thing, it looks real ghetto, and im gonna think of something better, but for now, it doesnt move or fall over. yay
