Z32 fuel filter.....

I am soon to do a tune-up on my 97 and I recall seeing that you can utilize the Z32 fuel filter. Is this true? If so, any modification needed in order to complete this setup or is it just plug and play? thanks....

Nope. But it's wide as hell. Actual hook up for the fuel lines is the same. Mine even fit into the same clamp housing. But you have to stretch it a bit. But it fits very well.

I heard speculations and seen discussions about the benefits of getting bigger filters but none are factual. Unless someone can really prove its benefits. Perhaps bigger filters = longer change intervals?

That’s what people are saying since its twice as big it has twice the life expectancy and from what I was told the 300zx list's the fuel filter to be changed every 30000 mi vs the maxima’s 15000 mi. I'd rather change mine more often. I picked up the maxima filter for $10 at the dealer. I'm assuming it was the original filter on the car from the factory because I noticed major gains in acceleration.

Yea that was the assumption but there are no solid facts. When did you replace your filter? Perhaps you can start logging your MPG for a month. I am ready for a new filter too, I'll get the 300zx filter and log my MPG for a month. Then we can compare stats after and put it on the stickies if the results are worth publishing.
