ok so i just got new rims but...

...the rear won't fit with the center cap on the rims.. because of the (gold color) grease cap sticking out in the middle.. front was fine cause it didn't have any grease caps (is that normal?).. so now the rims are on the car but the rear do not have center caps and those ugly grease caps are sticking out of the middle...

my Q is.. i was looking at my haynes manual and shows how to remove that grease cap.. but i was wondering if it was safe/ok to do so? or someone suggested that i use a spacer.. maybe like 1/2" or 1" just on the back.. thanks..

Did you purchase your rims off of that ebay auction?

Is it the wrong offset thats causing this problem?

the mid section of the (aftermarket) rims have smaller hole than the stock ones... in this case, i guess maxima oe wheels have HUGE holes for the grease caps.. not the offset..

as for spacers, if i get 1/2 inch i don't think i would need longer studs.. and hope that it will be enough to have my center caps..

EDIT: you can pry the grease caps off using a flat head screw driver and a hammer and chisel it off.. just don't know if it's safe to leave it off like that.

i think i remember reading a while back that someone just dented theirs in with a hammer so they're still on but now the rims are able to fit...don't quote me on it but i do remember it being talked about.

1/2 in???

I think you are going to want 10mm spacers; then you'll avoid having to get longer studs.....still not the safest method; but just torque your lugs well

there's a guy in the F/S section that is selling two rear spacers for $12 shipped

I wouldn't take off the dust caps if i was you. I'd hate to have to replace a wheel bearing.

i called up a buddy of mine at a body shop and he told me not to take it off.. said that i'll eventually replace the wheel bearing if you leave it off.. i guess i have no choice but to use spacers on the rear.. does anyone know if there's SUPPOSE to be those grease caps in the front as well? cause mine didn't have any when the wheels were off.. only the rear..

get H&R Spacers that include long studs..

or get wheel with the correct offset..

Problem solved.
