Had a knock sensor ghost code

It seems that i have had a bad knock sensor for a while. However, if i change this... how long until it malfunctions again. I'm assuming one reason this happened is because i've been putting regular gasoline since prices have become so high. What do i do to make sure the new knock sensor lasts. And where can i get one for cheap?

Its not 100% because you put shatty gas in there. Knock sensors are notorious for going bad. I had one go bad in less than 60k miles.

Change it out ASAP, youre losing power and gas mileage.
I know gas prices are high, but you get what you pay for....

the 10 cents u saved per gallon just probably cost u about 130 in one shot on ur knock sensor. Dont skimp out on the gas ur engine will thank you when it lasts to 250k

The reason wasn't because of the regular gas. The KS itself malfunctions due to corrosion, high heat, or cracked. Mine was cracked in half.

wont cheap gas also shorten the life of the knock sensor dramatically?

Supposedly, but him putting shat gas in for the time being didn't automatically cause his knock sensor to fail.

im asking you that question...i would think that if the engine is continously knocking it would wear out the sensor quicker. Just takin a shot in the dark because my knock sensor went bad on my I30 shortly after i had put 87 in it for about a month. i had bought the car from my stepdad and he failed to tell me to put premium in it.

I think that was more coincidental than anything. The sensor fails due to age or actual visable structural cracking. Running 87 gas doesn't neccessarily mean the engine would ping, especially at light loads or on flat pavement.

I've always used premium gas from when I got my car at 19k miles and my knock sensor went bad at 60k. Probably just cause its 8 years old more than the miles. Had it replaced and I can feel a little more power especially low end
