alright so lately my gas millage has been poor, the performance doesnt seem to be the same, and the wheel shakes when in idle at a stop light, so i decided to check my knock sensor with an ohmameter. the thing that is odd is that it didnt register on it at all, i even had my dad come out and try it and even he didnt get any reading so we think the knock sensor is just dead. is that a possibility? also where are some cheap places to get the sensor at? the local auto parts stores want 200+ dollars for it so i would like to find it cheaper.
thanks in advanced guys!

Knock sensors don't cause idle issues. They measure very high resistance, almost open, you need a good digital meter to get any readings.
Have you checked for any error codes, or are you getting the KS only error code from your ECU?

I just bought this and put it in about a week ago also, $89 before shipping. It's the exact same knock sensor as the OEM, just not in the same packaging (hence generic.)Originally Posted by SDot82

My gas mileage definitely improved since changing it.

u could also find knock sensors on ebay. Sometimes there's a seller that has them for 95 shipped. I got lucky and found a guy with about 5 of them going at 80 shipped. Search both "nissan knock" , "maxima knock" , and "maxima sensor"
