recently my motor has been making this ticking noise...it has to be the valves and i thought at first maybe i was running low on oil but i just changed it and it is not as bad but still there...does anyone know what might have caused this and how it could be fixed? thanks

 

It's probably your fuel injectors that you hear. They make a very lite ticking sound at idle.

Valve noise is more of a tapping sound. Hance they call is a valve tap...

 

well i wish that it was just at idle but when i lightly rev i hear it and obviously it gets quicker w/ engine speed...it seems the only time i dont hear it is when the intake noise or belts overtakes the ticking...so knowing that is it still injectors?

 

Could be the worn lifter arms or a rod?

 

I wouldn't worry...I've owned a 97 and now a 99...both ticked, and I dont think its anything to worry about.

 

yea i would like to know what this is that ticks exactly and how can it be fixed cause i have been lookin to buy a maxima and i found one that makes this noise at this dealership, car is mint except this noise
