Will an auto tranny from a 2001 Max work in a 1998 Max?
I have an opportunity to buy a low-mileage automatic transmission at a great price that originally came from a 2001 Maxima.
The dealer says that the tranny is part number RE-404A-85x06, and that it will physically fit a 1998 Max. However, he was not sure about the electronic connections.
I have my doubts about this, so I am putting the question to the group:
Is it possible to connect this tranny to a 1998 Max and actually have it work properly? If so, what mods would be required?

Maxima and I30 use the RE4FO4A is prior to 1999, 2000-up is RE4FO4B, the Transmission Housing is the same, however, the parts inside are different, the main concern is the Solenoid set, physcically, the electrical connector, functionally, the Solenoids themself, these Solenoids control by the ECU, the strategies are different, if you go there, be prepare to deal with ECU, connections and and other electical problems.

The dealer said that the tranny is a RE4F04W.
I guess it will not fit after all...
