what did YOU do to your front nissan emblem?

Just looking for some ideas pertaining to what one can do with the front Nissan emblem. I believe the emblem is boring.

I saw a few Maximas with the stock grille, but they somehow did not have that shiny Nissan sign in the front. I guess they either...

1) Shaved it off, which I think may look awkward since a big, bald circle remains with nothing in the middle.

2) Paint it black. Perhaps use that tint spray you guys use to tint tails with?

3) ??? suggestions ???

Pics would also be helpful.
Thanks in advance.

its held by glue. i used a flat-tip screwdriver to pry it off, and then just spray-painted it black. d-o-n-e.

I think the black painted emblem would look best if you are going for the all black theme. The emblem should go right back on with some glue. If you decide to remove the emblem completely you can use it somewhere else.

I painted it black, and painted some gutter-guard grey. I haven't put it back on yet, but i will most likely use some adhesive tape and see how that comes out, I might have pics Thursday when I buff my car and take pics for cardomain

why would you put it back on? behind the emblem is a solid piece of plastic, so i just spray painted it so that no glue marks were visible. it doesnt qualify as a show piece by any means, but it looks ok. maybe i'll take a pic of it...

But there's an indentation in the spot where the logo sits. It would look funny if you left the logo off.

I am going to the junk yard this weekend to find a 95-96 front grill so I can customize it. All I am gonna try to do is set the the grill further back for a deep dish look. There is an extra inch or so of clearance behind the grill before it hits the hood latch so I plan to cut the grill out of the housing and push it further in for a much more aggressive look. This should be fairly inexpensive, maybe a lil time consuming to get a clean look, but I havn't seen anyone else try it so it'll be original. I'll post pics of the progress this weekend on my cardomain site.

guys, if you can, please post pics of the black painted nissan emblem in the front.

Thanks

P.S. Can someone please also suggest an easy way to scrape off the stock chrome from the emblem?
I want to do this so that the paint holds better.

I'd just spray over the chrome and then spray clear coat over that after it dries.

Sanding the chrome down a lot should do the trick, unless you just want all the chrome off

I did the same thing sorta. I lightly sanded my emblem, applied a coat of primer, then applied 3 coats of black paint on it. Dried very quickly, since it's made of plastic.

I covered my grille with the gutter-guard mesh and then stuck the emblem back on there with a small white zip-tie. You can't tell and it looks great.

The one I shaved off the back, I took inside the car and used some velcro to stick it to my ashtray.

i had a chrome grill with a gold emblem. I painted everything black. Looks very clean and gives the car a meaner look. Only thing I would stress is to use primer and LOTS of clearcoat. I have so many stone chips i have to repaint it.

I have the gutter gaurd mesh grill ..... painted the emblem flat black and reinstalled... I used 2 small wire tires on the emblem posts where they go thru the grill ... no problems BTW I also blacked out my rear emblems.... I had the crappy gold package... now it all blacked out.... I'm like the blacked out look 10000000x over the gold

hmm..I've always liked 95/96 grills more than our 97-99. You can completely eliminate the grille and make it look mean as hell with just the mesh. So will a 95/96 grille fit in a 97-99?

Has someone done this by any chance? pics?

So, would you paint the logo black or leave it alone?

I like that a lot. I think the front end of the Max needs to be contrasted a bit.

That doesn't look too bad either. Either leave the emblem, or take it away completely and someone get rid of the centerpiece.

Here's what it would look like with silver-colored mesh instead of black-colored mesh:
