One code disappears and new one pops up!!??
I had the notorious 0309 EVAP code paired with an 0705 EVAP control systems code. I was going to purchase a new cannister and valve at the dealer. After reading posts here I felt cheap and gung ho and decided to try to "clean" the evap valve. I used PB blaster to take the bolts off that seperate the valve from the canister. The valve was frozen closed so I used some PB Blaster got the valve to move freely once again. I then used some carb cleaner to remove the PB blaster residue from the valve. I let it sit on the hot sun for 10 minutes to dry. I put it back together reset the light and about 100 miles I get a CEL.
No problem I thought ill pull the code and goto the dealer for the canister and valve. The 0309 code Disapeared and the only code I get is 0705 EVAP control system. I reset it twice and it came back. all the hoses around the evap are tight and in thier proper place.
I have NO PROBLEM buying a canister and valve, but with the evap vent valve code gone I am not sure if i wanna waste the 150$ if the light will come back.
any ideas

i didnt open the canister......I seperated the valve from the canister and cleaned it. there are removable rubber hoses around the canister and screws which must come off to drop the canister.
