Floor it alot? Then maybe seek a new/used tranny.

Or check the fluid.

the trans. fluid is clean and in good condition and they are at the level they should be... could this be a tps, maf or knock sensor problem?

The only time I have trouble downshifting in an auto, is when flooring from 50-60+. It tends to goto 2nd from 3rd, which is not good. I usually let up at that point, leading the tranny to search for the correct gear based on my foot-input. :P If from a straight-line accel, it shifts normally...1.2.3.

I dunno...bump.

You have a 99, the power surge your feeling at WOT is most likely a failing coil. That might be causing your tranny to act funny too.
