What kind of brake rotors better resist warping?

Please suggest a make of brake rotor that will be less likely to warp than the standard equipment.

After 10K miles on all new Nissan brand stock brake rotors and pads, some of the rotors have recently developed warping. Rear rotors seem to be most affected (if I brake using the hand brake only, I can feel pronounced pulses). The car is driven very moderately, so I'm surprised warping has occurred at all. It began rather abruptly in the last month or so. I suspected that lug nuts might have been overtorqued in connection with a front end job, but the rear wheels (where a lot of the problem is) haven't been touched since the new brakes went on 10K miles ago.

I'm not looking for super braking performance, just warp resistance. If I go to a performance-type rotor will it work with stock calipers? Does a stronger rotor necessarily have to be thicker than stock?

I replaced mine with Brembo rotors and I couldn't be happier. Yes, they do work with stock caliper.

OEM Nissan rotors are Brembo blanks, they should not be warping as you say. I would find the problem before you throw new rotors on, otherwise you'll be back at where you started. Overtightened lug nuts can easily cause this. Do you use the e-brake a lot? One thing that can easily warp a set of rear rotors is if you throw the ebrake on when you park right after some heavy braking.

Nissan OEM rotors and pads should give you no problems.

Blue is right on this - over-torqued rotors when placed on will warp the brakes. Robert - did you do your own brakes? It's wise to use a torque wrench with proper specs.

It's also very easy to do your own brakes.
