Wipers, clock and deck not working......help me

Alright so I was driving arounf yesterday and all of a sudden, my clock stops working and my deck shuts off. Now the deck still opens and all but there is nothing on its screen, it is blank. The wipers also stopped working. Now the funny part is that all these things work fine when I just put the key in the car and turn it to either the first or second position, but as soon as I start the car the clock goes away, the deck's screen dies and the wipers stop working.

Are all these things wired together and thats why they would all die at the same time and in general just act the same. Any help here at all would be great. I checked all the fuses in the car and they all seem fine, so where do I go from here?

Thanks in advance.

Steve

I dunno, I'm no electronics expert... maybe a short circuit somewhere? Try posting this in the audio/electronics forum as well and see if you have any luck.

you might have blown a fusable link. its under the hood in one of the boxes. its not easy to blow but i did it when i was jump starting my max. if it did blow you probably would have lost all the power options in the car. windows, cruise, dash lights, everything... only a $40 part, cost 80 to diagnose, 50 for labor.

It is very possible that the keyswitch is not returning to the ON position after starting the engine. The clue is that the accessories you mentioned all lose power when the starter is engaged, so as to give the starting system the full benefit of the battery. This is by design. The spring in the key cylinder may be sticking, preventing the key from returning to the ON position.

Try wiggling the key back a little bit the next time it happens.

you have to think about it logically....its definitely something electrical...probably a fuse, like acidmeld said...under the hood fuse is a DEFINITE possibility...i can gurantee you your winshield wiper motor didnt go out the same time your clock did...so there for its a fuse...let us know what happens that way if this ever happens to one of us we know what to replace

Think about it.

It can't be a fuse. He said the things work in the first and second key posititions, but die after starting the car. If it was a fuse, they would never work at all.

Wiggle the key back.

True, true. I'd definitely check a connection b4 I'd check for a fuse that's
only blown SOMETIMES.

If I read correctly, the accessories work when key switch is turned to accessory positions but not after engine start I'd pursue what oldngivinout had to say about the cut out when the switch is turned to the start position. That cutoff relay or circuit is not making contact again after start. Trace that down.
