Question about air filter setup..

ok well as most of us know...Zack did some dyno testing and it proved to be that the stock intake is the best setup...well I need to buy a new airfilter so im gonna go with K+N, but what is the difference between the stock air filter box(just drop the new filter in) and the open ended air filter setup? im a little confused between the differences...ive seen pics of just the air filter attached at the end of the intake and then offcourse theres the stock black box where you drop in the filter...so what is the difference?..do both do the same thing?...is there any advantage for having the open ended airfilter over the stock black box...any hp differences?..... sry for the NEWB question, any advice is great, thanks

if you want quietness, keep the stock air box. the open filter is primarily for sound. one of the best mods is the y-pipe. filters dont really make any HP difference.

technically it gives better flow, but will you notice a difference...no. but the reason I bought it was the fact that I didn' have to buy a new filter ever again, just the cleaning kit. economically it all works out.

if u think bout it stock is best. i mean it draws away from heat, and right near the hood.. cool air. no delay tubing or piping or heat issues or whatever w/ CAI ro SR..

im using stock air panels, throw away when not needed..
