skyline body kit...
skyline body kit...
im considering buying the skyline body kit, but im have several ???'s. ive lowered my max already, and im wondering if ill have to avoid speed bumps and other dips w/ the kit? also can i put the kit on myself, or am i going to need a shop to do it? and about how much is a good price to buy it, paint it, and get it put on? thanks for any info.
My Max has Sprint springs (2" drop) with KYB Shocks and a Skyline body kit. The front lip is a little over 2 1/2 inches off the ground. Like 95nissanMax said, you definately have to watch the bumps. I have to take everything at an angle. Here's a pic of the front end...

You basically just have to be careful but It's definately doable.

Definitely do it at the body shop. $800 would be a cheap price considering all the modifications they have to do to your car and the body kit itself. You'll have to remove your front re-bar and the foam thing from the back for the kit to fit. There are almost no holes on the kit so everything needs to be drilled. And also the bumpers have to wrape around the fenders so there will be some fitment issues. It's pain in the @ss but it looks decent when it's done. I like mine but I woulda gotten something else if I took some time to think about it first.
As for the ground clearance, the front end of the body kit sticks out much longer than stock + stillen. It also makes the car lower since the bumpers are much bigger than stock. So even without a drop, you'll have to watch out for bumps + sudden inclines/declines like going in to a gas station, driveway, etc... But drop is always doable and just gotta be careful.

You can do it yourself, I went to a body shop and ended up doing most of it myself since they were stumped. You just need to cut a little off the edge and force it around the fender. And yeah, with a drop you will need to watch for bumps. I have a couple pics in my homepage with my car not lowered and it still is close to the ground so Ive had to avoid some shops with steep entrances.
