First on the ORG to install IPOD digitally
Chemsol and I did this last weekend. Let me know if there at any questions. It was a very straight forward install. Enjoy. If anyone would like a write up I can do that as well.

I am working on the write up right now.
WillMax95: This works by sending the signal from the Ipod to the mini computer in the box from pioneer. Then the box translates it into a format that the deck recongizes. It displays the same thing that the IPod does, but on the face of your HU. You have to have an IP bus aka Aux on the back of your deck. Look at the first picture. That is the AUX wire that goes from the deck to the box. This has nothing to do with the pre-amps. This is the typical way people hook up a cd changer.
pavelsmax:
can you now control the ipod with your pioneer remote? Yes you can, anything you can do on the Ipod you can do with your remote.
do the song titles playing on the ipod appear on your pioneer?
Yes, the title is displayed the same as on the Ipod.
I want to add this is the only digital way out there. The other ways to do it is the rca's or fm transmitters. You can't even compare the sound quality.

Very true except that Alpine makes a head unit that lets you plug a Ipod into it directly for the same features you have stated above. But I think the route you went is better just because you already had the deck.

What sucks about the pioneer is that it requires an extra box to make everything work, i already have too much crap behind my radio to even attempt something like this and to make it fit, plus i have a dvd player and screen hooked up with a box similar to the ib100 or whatever it is back there on your setup

Does the Alpine run the dock connector cable ? Or how is it connected ... Pioneer is the only one ive seen with the true digital connection. I could be wrong. Do you have a link ?

I wish I could use the digital Pioneer CD-iB100 box, but I dont have a newer deck so I had to go the route with the CD-RB10 aux rca outputs. The sound is still good though 10x better than those fm transmitters, im also running a creative zen micro, down with apple. But great work, I read that the box also recharges your ipod which is a +, are you going to get a mounting bracket for your ipod or just let it lay there?

you could use the ash tray for a holder, it would hold the ipod upright and you would be able to hide the wire when its disconncted by just closing the tray. I have my bass control **** in there going from my amp it works great.

I do give you props for having an ipod in your Max though. That's the only "great" part.

Explain how it looks like crap, the only reason you can see it was for picture purposes. I have it in the bin closed, you wouldn't even know it was there unless I told you.

For those interested, the Pioneer module is the CD-IB100: Pioneer CD- IB100
The decks it will work with for certain are listed on the page. I believe, as
96white mentioned earlier, that it should work with most decks with an IP bus. It may or may not be able to control the Ipod though. Even if it cannot, it has
"“External Unit” Compatibility with many additional Pioneer Headunit and AV Receiver models." Not quite sure what this means but you can check with Pioneer.
The sound quality is excellent considering it is a compressed sound file and there wasn't a hint of interference.

I think its a good install, but the efficiency depends on how great of a HU you have. For example, if you have a $180 deck, why would you spend $100 on an adapter when $200 can get you a new deck that's already iPod ready?
It looks like an n-generation P6700MP. Is this correct?

Dan: I have a DEH p6400. .
Maximus_95: This is a brand new product that just came out. I have asked around on the org about and and no one had it.
Decker87: It is well worth the 120$ . I got it at cost which is way below $120 so it was even better for me.

I just got one for my Kenwood DDX7015, and love being able to control my iPod from my touch screen. It was a very easy hook-up though...i don't c why a write up would b needed. I think everyone was expecting something new and unheard of. Its just a plug and play adapter.

does it have a limit as to how many folders it can handle. I remember reading somewhere that it can only do about 99 folders which would be a problem for me since I got a 40GB iPod with over 270 albums
LMK. Thanks!

I was gonna say do something with that cut out under the head unit. when i install mine thats what im doing it. im gonna drill a hole in back of that and just have the hookup that goes into the ipod running thru that, that way you won't see any wires.

o yeah, they do make other boxes like the pioneer one for other brands of head units. just go to crutchfield.com and look at the ipod section and go to (ipod to brand name head unit) or something along those lines. they have quite a few in there.
