I am in the process of "upgrading" my maxima, selling the 95 and getting newer. I had it go through a 30minute inspection by the guy's mechanic, and the report came back nearly perfect. The mechanic said there is a oil residue spot underneith the AC compressor? i believe. He said its a very small leak if anything, but definetly not worth worrying about.

The damn guy wants to get the system pressurized and find out where the leak is. Anyways... When they presussurize the system, they will find the leak. Im just using dumb logic here, but could that possibly make the leak big? I am prone to ****ty luck like this, and I would be screwed out of money if the leak blows. Is this possible?

If you have a leak and it needs to be corrected it doesnt matter if its big or small.

If your A/C is working properly and cooling as it should, then all you have a very small leak if any. The A/C will stop cooling otherwise once all refrigerant is lost.

If your are selling your car and your a/c is working; Then what's the problem?

The A/C system is under pressure, about 60 - 70 PSI as it rests. When it's running the low side runs about 30 - 35 PSI and the high side runs as high as 250 PSI.

What was this "mechanic" trying to tell you? - I smell a rat.

Yeah, im not paying for any of this so far. The ac works perfect. I will talk to them tomorrow when i take it in and say that I will not accept any charges for repair if you blow a leak somewhere. He says it is not necesarily the AC compressor, there are several valves in that general area, and that is why the buyer wanted to check it out.

My thought is some other valve has a tiny leak, and if he pressurizes the system, it could become a problem. Right now there IS NO problem, but the stupid buyer is a hard sell. He is paying for the pressurization, but i am going to sue his *** if they blow something.

bump, anyone have some knowlege on the topic and if i should worry about anything?
