installin fogs
Hey guys I'm lookin to buy some fogs and was jsut wodnering will I have to get an SE bumper or willI be bale to jsut trim my GXE numper, will they fit fine if I trim and also are brackets required
Thanks
Thanks
I saw a good diagram and explanation somewhere on the org. I think the GXE has the electrical plugs for the fogs already installed at the bumper. I believe you cut the tabs splitting your fog light holes, install brackets, and then put in the lights and just plug them in. I think you'll have to replace the switch on your steering column to incorporate the fog switch. That;s my recollection anyways. Please post when you're done.
i installed oem fogs on my GLE, same bumper as GXE. its kinda a pain. you have to take off the bumper cover to get the brackets on, and if you haven't had it off yet, it's fun ot find out how. the fit is perfect as long as your cuts are straight. my car (98) had they plugs taped up in behind the gaping holes so look there, they should have some purple on them if i remember correct. then as far as getting an intereior switch, im still trying to get that sorted out. right now the fogs are hard wired to my headlights, so they come on when i turn on my headlights, seems to be pretty convenient for me
edit: hint: when you screw the brackets on don't over tighten them if they are used screws. two of my screws broke off in the bumper so it took way longer than it should have PM if you have any more questions

actually you can do the swap without taking the bumper off just take off theplastic pieces under neath the fogs and you should have enoughclearance but if you need more room take bumper offf yes plugs are there just becareful when cutting the plastic pieces i actually use d atowl cut a slit in put it in the plastic piece and cut so i wouldnt mess up the bumper as for the switch its direct plug and play with the old one the old one is attached on by 2 screws disconected harness take off switch add new one on just take your time and dont rush it
