i get annoyed with the sound of the bolt on intake i bought, since i've had it for quite a while already.

if i put the stock air box back in, will i lose power? since there was such a dispute on whether an intake really provides a noticible amount of power, i'm just in question.

I really want to feel the low-end torque again, but I still love the high end of the intake.

I'm kinda getting jealous of my friends 97 camry, which has silky smooth acceleration and lots of torque.

thanks

If your car is an auto, putting it back in might actualliy make it feel a little quicker in everyday driving off the line.

Not really, no.

You'll feel quicker off the line with the stock airbox compared to the pop charger, but you'll feel sluggish at the top.

Specs state that the JWT give you about 4-6 HP overall, if you want a quiter intake go with the K&N Airfilters in your stock box. My friend has the Stock box with K&N and said that he could notice the difference after installation but didnt have any annoying sounds...still purring..

I am looking for a JWT POP so if you are looking to get rid of it keep my email address and let me know how much you want for it.

Thanks! :-p

if u want low end, try the UDP.. doesnt give a lot of Hp, but frees up low end.

K&N drop in Filters don't do crap....intakes do.....I didn't notice any loss of low end with the intake...I actually noticed an INCREASE in low end, and with my current mods, I have MUCH better low end than when I was stock. First gear is nuts....just ask MAX2000JP, he has witnessed it first hand.

UDP...

that's an underdrive pulley right? how much would one of those be?

it's just a lighter pulley than stock correct? anyone willing to sell a used one? thanks

i was thinking about the drop in filter charger for my stock air box...but it's pretty pricey i think. at my local pep boys it's probably around $25 or more. ehh...

oh by the way...the only reasons i have doubts now about going back to a stock air box is with the intake, i can intimidate a lot of people hehe . you'd be surprised how much louder the intake is from the outside compared to the inside.

I agree with vmok, with an auto, the Popcharger does seem to make you lose low end power, but seems to add it at the upper end. I could spin my tires easily before I put in the Popcharger, but all I get now is a chirp. The car does feel better accelerating at speed though.

good point Medicsonic AND BriGuyMax...

in my old '96 gxe auto, the car felt slower with the free-er flowing intake I suspect because of the loss in bottom end (and I used the same measure as Medicsonic, i couldn't get the same amount of wheel spin), however, on the 1/4 track, it was slightly faster. trap speed are up in the 80/90mph range, and free-er flowing intake is more beneficial in the top end, so the K&N filtercharger might be better for auto max's, when you do a lot of city driving or carry people.

in the '97 SE 5sp i have now, I have the JWT, and the seat of the pants makes it seem like it's faster. however, it could be because of the noise it makes and not the actual increase in performance i feel. i think it's faster, and that's all the matter (by the way, my butt dyno can't feel the 4-5 claimed hp increase, or any increase in the top end, but I still keep it in there!)...

the other reason the filtercharger might be a good idea on the auto is this... on the freeway, the 5sp are pulling around 3000rpm, while the auto's are pulling around 2500pm (around 70mph). this puts the 5sp closer to the peaks in the powerband, so you feel better acceleration (but give it up in gas mileage) to the auto's. since the auto's are turning a bit slower, any gain in torque at the lower rpm makes the car more enjoyable to drive (when you roll it on, the car pulls a littler harder)and any loss is more pronounced.

basically, in my opinion, I could/can feel the lower end torque more than I could/can feel the top end gain (in the auto). on the 5sp, I can't really tell, but think I might have more top end without much loss in feel of the low end.
