for the stillen intake i have under the hood. I couldn't
find the stock piece. do you think i'll have any problems
passing visual or smog if i get it inspected in california?
I'm in the bay area. I was thinking of going to smog pros?

That intake should be legal. Make sure you have the paper work or the sticker with the carb approved number.

You should have no problem. . . From what I have read, most Max's sold in NY are CA certified anyway. Just try and find the paperwork on the intake and you should have no problem passing. I had to do the other smog check in CA, the type 2 for the Sacramento area about a month or so ago and passed no problem (although my car is stock), but the intake doesn't get rid of any smog requirements so I wouldn't be too concerned.

They started doing that thing where they put your car up on the rollers right after I moved back down to the bay area. Those smog checks suck, they're like twice as expensive as the normal ones!

It costs over $100 to do the dyno test in bay area, because there is like only one station per city. For awd or cars that can't turn off traction control, they just do the two speed idle test.

Yeah, it cost me like $70 to get smogged. . . I hate it, you should be able to get a performance run out of it at least I don't know what you do with AWD cars though.
