Pictures of how to remove headlights?
I want to do the AE mod, but I can't find any writeups with pics on how to remove the headlights from the car. I've found a couple without pics, but I find it much easier to understand if I can actually see which bolts, etc. I'm supposed to remove. I just know without them I'll remove something I'm not supposed to!
Thanks!
Thanks!
1. first remove ur corner light w/ philip screwdriver
2. unclip ur front grill w/ philip flat-head screwdriver
3. there are 4 12mm bolts which secures ur headlight. find them and untighten it.
now ur headlight is removed.

Okay, so I'm trying to take my headlights off right now. I got the corners unscrewed and they are part way out, but they won't come out any more. Am I missing another screw? I took out the ones at the top on each side. The bottom portion of the corners nearest to the headlights seems to be sticking.
Also, how do you pop the grille off?

Corner Light
Take a small open wrench and put it in the little nub connecting the corner light. There is only one screw on top. Put some WD-40 on the num. then wedge the wrench in there. Use some elbo grease, and pull. I know you might be afraid to pull to hard, but just pull damn-it! It will come off.
Try to take off the electric conectors first, you may over stress them off when the light comes off.
Grille
Take a screw driver and stab the top corners of the grille. Find where the conectors are. the grill just snaps in to place so by depressing the top part with a screw driver, it will come off. Use common sense and dont go stabing everywhere.
Headlight
There are 10 MM bolts to remove from behind, you will need an extension for some of them. A 3" extension will do. You may need to use an open wrench, I forget. Then there might be some other bolts in the front but you can probably figure that out.

Thanks for the info. What do you mean by the nub? I might just put it all back cause I'm not very good at figuring this out! I tried to disconnect the wiring harnesses but they are stuck together pretty good.

All of us didn't know how to remove headlights at one point. Im assuming that guy was born with that knowledge.

thats the process of learning.. I didn't have to read no write up or fsm to take out my headlights... just look at the damn headlight assemblys self explanatory.

Lame edit, nice try.
I could care less if he posted on how to install CCs, but there was no reason to be a smart a.ss towards the guy.

there's no reason for you to be in this thread.. you aren't contributing a thing..
Sorry if I've "offended" you because I don't have as much mechanical knowledge. I'm trying to learn more and the only way I can do that is to ask questions. While you may be able to take out your headlights in your sleep, the only reason I've ever opened my hood before is to add windshield washer fluid. I'm trying to do this on my own, I don't have anybody around to help me out and as far as I know the purpose of these forums are so that Maxima owners with different levels of experience can help each other out. I've already checked the stickies, but I didn't find all the information I need. I'm just asking simple questions here, I'm not doing anything wrong. If they're too easy for you then move on to a more challenging thread. What's the point in wasting your time by putting me down?
BTW, I got the stupid corners and grille off, but I'm having trouble with the bolts behind the headlight. On the right side there is a fuse box in the way and I managed to get the socket with extension stuck in there! LOL, now I must really seem smart!

make sure you use a long socket.

Okay, now I'm getting frustrated cause I don't want to have to put everything back after getting this far! My left headlight was pretty much ready to come out but the top right corner is sticking. It looks like there is still some kind of bolt holding it in, but I can't find how to access it. I undid one bolt, then two long screw things behind the light as well as the 2 screws where the corners were. Am I just supposed to yank it out, or should it slide out easier than that?
Am I supposed to just take out the light, or the black backing behind it too? As for the right headlight, that fuse box is right in the way and whether I'm using an extension or just a longer socket at an angle, I can't get that bolt to budge! There's no room to actually turn the socket.
This is going to be a long process for me! I took a couple of pictures of what I'm talking about:

Thanks for all the help! I don't know why this is so hard for me.

Thanks, I got it eventually. I just gave it a good yank and those *** things popped out. I thought it was still screwed in at first. Problem was that they wouldn't pop back in after I painted the lense. I was pressing really hard on the lense and didn't want to break it. I got fed up and had a mechanic friend reinstall them for me today. Totally worth it cause those stupid lights were stressing me!
Okay here are some pics of the end result! I'm glad that stupid ordeal is over. Let me know what you think...I ordered diamond cut clear corners from Redline Maxima so hopefully they'll get here soon!
