Replacing GXE Dash Gauge Cluster with SE DGC

I am considering replacing my 97 dash gauge cluster (speedo, tach, fuel, temp) with the white faced cluster from a 98 SE. Has anyone done it? Did you run into any problems?

Thanks.

+ you would need to match the SE cluster w/ your current mileage .. I've seen ppl use some sort of machine to do this

The fuel gauge is a little different too, the 98 fuel gauge is mirrored to the temp gauge, which means the gauge faces the other way. I dont know if that would effect you from swaping it.

Are the 95 and 96 gauge clusters compatible with a 97?

If the 98 is not compatible with a 97 then I won't bother with the one I found. Maybe its a 97. I'll check again. If anyone is interested then let me know. I found this one already removed in the back seat of a car in a local junk yard. If you want it then let me know. I'll find out what they want for it and let you know. I assume it isn't broken. I don't know how to check the internal mechanisms though. It looked from the outside though. I saw several others that would need to be removed. Anyone interested let me know. I can at least give you the name and number for the yard.

the '98 will work, just that the cluster is wired diff. .. there have been some ppl who have installed '98 clusters, forgot who did it

a 95 will work fine in your case. all 95-97 are the same cluster, just different needles. and gauge overlays.

I did a similar swap. I changed my black GLE gauge faces from my '95 with my friend's old white SE gauges from his '96. I just changed the faces though. I would have changed the miles myself, but his had over 131,000 miles and I only have 84,300. If you swapped the entire cluster there shouldn't be any problems.
