why would you want a 99 since you have a 2002? anyway, most commom problem on the 99s are the coil packs if they haven't been replaced.

id say dont get 99, get 98 or 97, all the style of the 99, none of the problems. coilpacks are around $75-$100/each, and youd need one per cylinder if theyre bad. 97-98 didnt have this problem.

yea, get a 97-98 SE if you must, be a bit cheaper than a 99 too, but you should keep the 2002 for the more powerful 3.5 engine IMO

the 99 is a nice car. I got mine w/all factory options. Heated mirrors, sunroof, traction control, and ABS. 99;s came in the most PIMP color too. Aspen Pearl!!!

Things to look for:
coil pack problems usually around 70-90k
knock sensor around 70-90k
annoying click from blower motor around turns (more like tick tick tick tick)
99s do have a immobliizer with chip in the key
watch out for the california emmisions model

I have a 99 and just hit 141,000 and my coilpacks are still good and my KS hasn't acted up yet, but it's ALWAYS been maintained and serviced and I only run 93 octane

That is some bad reasoning on your part IMO. All 99, 98, and 97 are practically identical. So, with a 99 you simply have a younger car!

With your thinking, why not just get a 95? Many on here claim they're slightly faster, so you do a conversion and it looks like a 97-99. Again, you will have a 4 years older car, which is a lot. (damn, 11 year old car)

99 SELs do come with titanium rims and emblems, so I find that relatively nice. Plus, it's just that....a limited and the youngest of the 4th gen.

just saying, its best to avoid the headache of coilpacks, so that saves you money, plus buying a slightly older car also saves you money, but whatever...
