would having 35% all around (minus the windshield) be a problem for inspection?

I did all 7 windows (4 doors and rear windshield) in 20%, I did the sunroof in limo and I did a 6" windshield strip in limo. It was $75 for the removal.
the guy who did mine used lumar film, which is a very good expensive film, that should last very long 75 sound right for stripping the origional

No, that's what I have. I have a black interior and it's dark enough for me. Anything less than 20% and you'll have trouble parallel parking on dark streets, and visibility in dark areas (to the sides of the car).

You should be fine with 35% all around for inspection; actually you should go 20% on back window and 35% on 4 side windows and a 8 to 10 inches stripe on windshield with 5%.

Just ask to sit in a car that's tinted up and see if you like it or not.

Question for you guys with your windshield tinted
How do you replace your inspection and emissions stickers without messing up the tint?

I ask him if he can remove at least the one from rear window and replace for 20% and he said is very hard, time consuming, will destroy my defroster and charge me at least around $70 on more depending on time. I just replace my windshield a few days ago, called him asking to tint my windshield 50% and he said he doesn't do that at all because is illegal and extremelly dangerous at night, he will only do stripe for $25. If I had extra money will redo the whole car 20%.
How did your back window came out after removing old tint? did the defroster was destroyed and now is not working?
if your old tint is still good, couldn't you just over tint the old one?

I just replace my broken windshield (branch from a tree fell off); I was so lucky and happy when called my insurance with full cover and they paid for it with no deductible which mine is $1000 and insurance won't go up and police report wasn't necessary. The guy that replace the window just got stickers really wet with either water or wintex and then removed then and put in new windshield but they are almost destroyed all around because did it in a rush; so if you do it carefully will come out better, then put them back, they are really chaep garbage quality stickers to start with.

true but at most eye care places you can get a perscription for illegal tint. Just say you drive around all day for work, and your eyes are starting to hurt real bad from all the sun.

after that you can tell the piggys to go back to their car.

That was exactly the second option I was thinking of but tint guy told me will look really bad, not from outside but from the inside out when looking thru rearview mirror will look like many mini waves and very cloudy. It really got me crazy, I am going tomorrow to do the stripe 5% on windshield. I want my car to look darker; he already refused to tint my whole windshield. I may ask him to go ahead and remove and destroy rear defroster if he is not very busy; but living where snows that defroster helps a lot.

I'm goin to venture to guess, if its done right the first time with quality tint it should last for the life of the car.

I had my tinting done the first week I got my car. That was 8 years ago and it's still perfect.

I have 13% all around and none on the windshield. I still get compliments on how gangsta my car looks. Tints made a huge difference.

No, I don't know that. And, in fact, neither do you. So what was the point of you saying it? In fact, I know it doesn't cost $10. I wish you luck trying to find someone willing to spend the time/labor willing to remove old tint for only $10. Especially when they risk screwing up your rear defoggers and/or rear Bose antenna. The guy was actually upset at the lady at the front counter for only charging $75. I had to make my appointment 2 weeks in advance and leave my car there overnight because there is so much labor involved.

Yeah... I mean no offense by this but this is what I discovered during my homework. Lumar is the best film of yester-year. In fact, it is what I was told was the best 10 years ago when I put it on my Audi 100. The shop I went to in April had three trim lines. The bottom was Lumar, the second was 3M with metal and the top of the line was 3M w/out metal. I went with the 3M w/out metal. I guess the metal is what caused tint to eventually turn purple (I have a lifetime gaurantee against it) and the metal can cause reception interference with cell phones, windhield antennas, GPS, etc. I may have upgraded for nothing but I love my car and I like to do everything right the first time instead of redoing later.
