gas mileage has went from wonderful to gas hog..

grr... i hate this d@mn thing. i constantly get 19-20 miles to the gallon. Well then last weekend i drove to the airport nad back and i got 30 miles to the gallon. I was so happy.

Well i filled it up at costco and drove this week. I had about 70 miles to the half tank. I accidently reset it but i know i drove about 70 miles before it got to a 1/4 tank.

i dont know what the heck is going on. I reset the ecu right before i drove to the airport becuase i reciently installed a y pipe andi heard i was suppose to reset it after you installed it. My knock sensor is fairly new, few months. It might be the O2 sensor but im not throwing any codes. a fellow orger told me about the fuel filter which im planning on doing here soon.

Does anyone else know if there could be anything else going on? I probably hit all the problems but im so mad at it. Im even driving it easy. Just wanted to see if anyone else had a different idea or soemthing i over looked.

Thanks

Sean

You can't judge by the needle. The correct way to measure mileage is to reset the trip meter when you fill up, and then next time you fill up, divide the miles driven between fill-ups by the gallons you needed to get back to a full tank. Do this 3 or 4 times to get an average - since every pump cuts off at a different stage - so "full" is different each time you fill up.

This car is not a civic when it comes to gas, I get a combined 21mpg of city/highway.
