Another Greddy Sp2 thread breakdown

With the 3490283408340 threads about "which exhaust to pick", i figured this may help a few of you (and the rest will continue to ask the same question 2 weeks from now.)

For my birthday I received the Greddy Sp2 97-99 Catback for my car (ordered it from steve at SW.) I finally found a great place nearby to install it for me.

It is basically direct bolt on without any fitment problems. The bpipe hangs a little lower than stock, but nothing you should be worried about (even if you're lowered.) The only difficult part of the install process was reinstalling the O2 sensor

The catback is full stainless steel. It looks very well made and after install, there were NO rattles whatsoever.

It is very quiet. I dont have either an intake or ypipe, but it is very very quiet. I jumped into my car, popped it in neutral, and stepped on it to hear it. To my surprise, I heard more of my engine than the catback.

After a day's worth of driving, your car will smell for the 1st hour (which is normal.) It seemed to get louder around 2-2.5k, but everything is DEEP. It gives a subtle deep roar (0% ricey). At idle, it is almost stock.

Overall it is the catback i've been looking for. It is not loud at all, and can be managable for everyday driving. Your ears will not pop, and this catback can be compared to the Apexi WS (which is unavailable.) If you want this to be a louder catback, add a ypipe and intake.

If you want an aggressive catback, this is NOT the one to go for. It gives a nice deep "hum" while driving, but won't attract the ricers. It is very "classy" and is the best available option for a quiet, deep catback.

Good review. I've had the SP2 for awhile now (bought it when it first came out) and after a month, I modified it. I had an additional resonator welded into the b-pipe because it was too loud for my taste. Now, I had a very very deep tone and the car growls in the midrange. At WOT, the car sounds like a demon.

Another resonator? wow, i can't barely hear mine right now. I'm guessing it gets a little louder after the "break-in" period...

The SP2 is great. I've had it on my car for about 5 years now. It's still solid, w/o any issues.

It gives off a very deep hum. Around 3000 rpms, it gets noticable. When I was following my wife in her car, I could not even hear the SP2.

At WOT, I can wake the dead. I dont have a y-pipe (yet). I hope it wont be too loud when I put the Y on.

I'd hate it if I sounded like one of those Civic fart cans @ 1000 RPM

We'll my brother had put it on the car before I bought it off him. It might have been 4 years. Maybe it isnt an SP2, but I do know it's a Greddy full catback to exhaust. Any thoughts?

I think your right. Although the SP1 and the SP2 look that same, the SP2 wasnt in production yet.

Thanks THT.

if any of you guys have no 02 sensor behind the cat, i suggest you get the Greddy EVO instead of the SP.

and also whats the diameter of the pipe?

i'm going to get a custom exhaust made to the diameter of the SP2, and pair it up with a no name muffler, or a borla. I just feel dumb modding my fwd v6 after driving in my friend's 375whp camaro.

The catback was 490 shipped from Steve himself (SWA). The install was 65, but the job done to it was fantastic. No rattles, no leaks, no problems whatsoever (knock on wood.)

I am very happy with it. It is deep and noticeable mostly around 2k, but it is very quiet. If you can't find the apexi WS, get the greddy sp2.

Do you have time to make some Video sound clips?

I would like to hear what the car sounds like inside when your at idle and cruising speeds.

Or if you can tell me if there's a constant hum that'll get too annoying.

Thanks.

It sounds close to stock at idle. Around 2k it gets at its loudest, which isn't loud at all. Its a mild hum that will NEVER get annoying.
