has anyone rebuild there rear calipers on 95 maxima
Well recently both of my rear calipers seized on my car. I need to change it out but don't have too much money right now, So i decided to rebuild it my self. I went to autozone and purchase the rebuild kit for 8 dollars each. I have no trouble taking the piston out of the caliper, but putting it back in with the new rubber seems impossible. Anyone has experience or any shortcut, please share it with me. Paying 180 oppose for rebuild calipers from autozone is way too much compare it to 16 dollars for the rebuild kit.

I think rebuilt calipers from autozone cost only $40-50 each, IIRC. When you return your old ones, they refund you the core deposit. In my book, it isn't even worth doing it yourself. If you do it yourself and the thing leaks brake fluid or has some other functionality problem, you have to do it again. Besides, it'll probably take you a good 3-4 hours of toil and my time (and yours) is worth more than that.

yeah the front ones is around 40 dollars, but the rear ones is 80 dollars. They had one for 55 dollar, but they don't sell that one anymore. Now the cheapest rear rebuild caliper is 80 dollars. Rebuild the front one is so easy, but the rear one is just a Bi*ch.

I just had both rear brake calipers and pads replaced on my 95SE at 58K, mostly highway miles. I was somewhat astounded as the brake pads still had 50% remaining to the wear bar. I attribute the right rear caliper seizing to not using my parking brake in years. Three brake shops have advised me to use the parking brake as it forces the caliper piston to turn in further.
The brake shop that did the repair advised me not to bother machining the rear rotors as they were in good condition. The owner prefers not to turn rear rotors as they are relatively thin to begin with.
I bought the parts wholesale and paid the shop 1 hour labor to install the parts, clean up the brakes and bleed them. See if you can get a good deal on the parts and if you don't do the work yourself, take the parts to a non-franchise shop and negotiate a deal to install the parts and bleed the brakes.

I can't find any better deals than autozones rear caliper, but i was thinking if i want to change it out, is there any other better performance calipers that i can get to replace the Stock ones. I read a post a very long time ago about cheap rear brake upgrade, but now i can't find it.
