Now I am almost certain my car was never in an accident but... need some body experts

I noticed that in my trunk (I am laying down some sound deadening material) that along the edges of the seems of the floor and the wheelwells there seems to be something that I can only describe as similar to bondo- it kinda looks brushed on. Is this normal? As in from the factory? When I rean the carfax when I bought it, it came up squeeky clean.

If the car was repaired without ever making an insurance claim - record of that repair/accident may never make it to CARFAX... CARFAX does not always represent the entire history.

is it hard and feel like metal?

i doubt it is bondo , sometimes it just looks like that inside chassis. I haven noticed it on other parts of the body. Actually, in the engine bay, around the struts, it probably looks like that and along the seams.

is it like the rubber undercoating material? Could be some sort of water proofing for the trunk.

He wants to know whether or not his car was in a prior accident and managed to pass carfax when he looked it up. It's a legit question, so quit acting like a kid.

I had the same problem as well, FormerAccordMan. Carfax did not detect my prior accident. You'll need to take some pics to helps us check it out for you.

Under the carpet, your trunk is the most uncosmetically correct place in your car, noone really looks there much. So, don't expect to see shiny paint or clean cuts, from the robots that make your car.

It's normal. I have the same thing.

My dad thought it was in a huge accident when he first saw it when we were buying the car.

Thank you all for yor resposes. Nismotic- Thank you as well. I am satisfied with the other responses and feel that my was not in an accident. At this point I really dont care b/c I plan on running the car into the ground so resale value is not of a concern. I just thought it was strange to have that stuff in there. Thanks everyone!
