well this is how i look at it...warpspeed sells i believe their stainless steel y-pipe for like $200 us i think?? or something like that...would u relaly take the chance of it not fitting..casue it looks like the same one on the e-bay one i saw since i do have their paypal name n it's the same company. therefor it must have fitment issues since you need to cut part of the piping off due to its too long and won't bolt up to the cat....so..i mean..u can be a guniea pig n tell me how it is after u get it n install it..-= )

yeah i went in on the same deal and then also noticed the ypipe being sold on ebay. I asked the kid who told me about the deal what was up and he said that he ordered a ypipe from the same guys and it fit perfectly. Hopefully the pipe they are selling in the GD is different from the pipe on ebay which has to be cut. On their website, the pipe we bought supposedly sells for 300 or so at retail so i guess it can't be all that bad

Sometimes I wonder how people think.

You would choose some no name brand and risk having it not fit and maybe other issues then a proven Y-pipe from either Warpspeed or Budget to save a couple of bucks?

Hope it works out for you.

i don't know about you but spending an extra $100 or more is not "a couple bukcs" to some people... particularly the poor college type

Warpspeed is aluminum which poses problem for people that live in wet or snowy states but im sure youll be fine in cali with a warpspeed on and i think there might still be a group deal for 160 shipped idk you gotta take a look

I don't think they do think ... and I too would stick with something that has been known to fit.

Here's my classic answer to this comment.

You get what you paid for. If your going to go cheap on something don't go cheap on your car. I understand if it's food/clothes etc...

Sounds like you might have your priorities a little mixed up -> if you put your car mods ahead of food/clothing. I think what you want needs to be said is if you can't afford the mod, don't mod.

Maybe I should call them and schedule a time to bring my car in so they can verify fitment.

Priorites mixed up?

What are you reading? When did I ever say I put my car first.

Exactly my point on how people think.

Going cheap on food means not having a 5 course meal everyday.

Going cheap on clothing means not buying brand name clothing.

I guess I have to explain every little point to people that can't think for themselves of what I'm writing or totally screwing up on the meaning.

I mis-interpreted your post... I read it as, go cheap on food/clothes so you can afford the better y-pipe oops... no offence intended... Sorry about that.

I called Topspeed and spoke with an i30 owner there. He will call me back and see if he can get pics of the TopSpeed Ypipe bolted onto his i30.

I'm willing to drive over there (20 min away) and see how everything is there...maybe I'll just do that tomorrow if they're open.

well it should fit considering they usually retail over 200 but the thing is they need to make some extra room in their inventory and they're having a sale...i mean...i've been wanting a ypipe for so long and so now that the opportunity's here...why not? its 100 on a y pipe...i have access to an auto shop that will do the stuff for free (cause imma help) i talked to the guy and he says its gonna fit....

Because you personally haven't heard of Topspeed makes them a no name brand? Quite a few org'rs and myself have the Topspeed axle back SS muffler which came with the connecting pipe and hangers attached as it was specifically designed for the Maxima unlike a lot of generic mufflers. I got mine for almost a third of their retail price also, so I'm guessing they are getting out of the Maxima line, but they are a great shop with excellent communication and expertise. I highly doubt he is going to have fitment problems, I say for the money, go for it!

Can anyone tell me where this y pipe is selling for $100? I've checked both Ebay and the GD forums with no luck. Maybe I'm just missing it.

I have a Budget stainless steel y-pipe, bought last June. I have no fitment issues and no bees in the can sound. Good luck with your Topspeed y-pipe purchase. Personally, I wouldn't buy it. If an extra $60 or $100 is a life-altering event, you shouldn't be buying the y-pipe in the first place.

This was in a PM to me from dr-rjp:

OK, the deal is on and you can place your order now.

All you have to do is Call 469-951-4188, and ask for John. Tell them you are with Maxima forum.

This was a second PM from him after I questioned the quality of the ypipe:

I don't know what is up with the eBay sellers offering this pipe (if it is, in fact, identical), other than the fact that I ordered one like it through an eBay seller and never got it!!!

I got mine from the same place as the group deal and mine was installed on a 1998 I30 -- the same car as a 4th gen Max -- without a single problem, except for removing the rusty bolts on my old Y-pipe. There is not a single flaw in the pipe I bought.

I cannot say if it will go on a 00-01 Max without making any kind of mod since I do not know what are the differences between the 4th Gen and 5th Gen Max.

If you have a 1995-99 Max or I30, then you will have zero problems installing it.

That is all that I can attest to. If you want more proof, you can talk directly to the mechanic who did the install.

is there any downside in installing a y-pipe? such as not being able to pass smog check, car becoming very loud, some sort of annoying vibration, etc....

you can pass the smog if you drive 15 minutes before to let your system warm up...loudness...but i've heard mixed results from this...i heard quieter and i heard a lot louder so yeah...who knows til we try!

I tend to disagree with you on that. You can just buy less clothes if you waste money trying to be trendy like i did and with regards to food, assuming that you're not starving, just cutting down on restaurants helps as well
