Brake experts help!

This picture is of the driverside front brake caliper. It looks to me like there is a pin-like thing sticking out (not a brake expert) do I need to worry? Is this something I can fix myself? Thanks in advance.

please just go to that and click the A4/Max picture and you will see it.

I cannot host images but I need help!

that should be part of the brake pads. I've seen it before, it looks normal ... should be fine.

The only thing is it protrudes a bit farther on the front driverside than anywhere else. The "pin" is on all the calipers, just furthest out on that one. I'm just wondering if this thing is going to slide all the way out. . . .More opinions please! Thanks for the feedback.

If I understand you correctly that it the wear sensor. When the pad reaches a point that metal plate touches the rotor and makes a squeaking sound to alert you that the pads are low.

wear sensor.. haha. its the brake pad wear indicator. its lets you know when you need new brakes before your rotors are chewed up.

Would the wear indicators be so different (other side is flush) on each side in the front?

What does it's current position indicate? Lots left or needs to be changed?

To be total honest I'm not sure which side should get the sensor. Some cars have it only on 1 side. The brakes should wear evenly So I guess it don't matter which side gets the sensor

You installed it backward, nothing to worry about. The pad that has the sensor should be on the back of the rotor, so it is not showen. It will still work tho.
Or you have put the both pads that have the sensor on one caliper, and the other caliper does not have any sensor.

That's right. It should be on the inboard side, because the inboard pads wears faster.

My woman's minivan had both inboard pads installed on the right side by car-x or midas or one of those dumbass shops. Flippin idiot, gosh!

I HATE those shops.. They're certified hacks.

The "sensor" is on all of the calipers, but only sticking out from that one (picture). I suppose it was just put in backwards and the rest are fine? Any need to flip the sensor?
