Has anyone else had this happen??

My CEL is constantly on becasue the 02 sensor in my cat is dead. Its Fused to the cat(rust) so I have to get a new cat and all. Anyway, The other night I drove the car to work and it sat for about 8 hours. When I got back in it started right up, but the CEL was gone. Also, I had to Manually turn my headunit on(never happened before). Car ran fine, code came back...Then it happened again tonight. I don't know if its just a freak thing, or if it could be something more. Any help/info is appreciated.

Use a cetaline tourch, heat the O2 and Cat till it glows red, then simply unscrew it from the cat. The rust will fall apart like butter and you'll be able to put a new sensor in after everything cools down. An exhaust shop might be able to help you out.

sounds like your battery could be getting pretty weak, or your battery terminals not connected properly. Like its losing power to the point where it resets the ECU and your headunit.

I have had something similar happen, but with the front O2 sensors. I had the CEL come on whenever I filled up at cheap gas stations (not sure if gas triggers this). I did a manual reset and switched the gas brand to HESS. After that, the CEL rarely came on again (maybe once every 2 months). As far as I know, I have not seen the CEL light in about a year or so.

My battery charges fine, and the connections are good. I have belt that slips upon start up, then it catches and my lights brighten up. Maybe its draining my battery just enough. I really need to replace that belt/pully.

Yeah replace the belt, I had my main acc belt get pretty worn out, everytime I hit a puddle it would squeel and screetch and cry. Finally got around to it.

The reason the CEL went off is that after about 45 warm-up periods, the ECU will clear itself until it picks up the code once again. Things that are intermittent like O2 sensors will do this

Thanks man. As for the grill, its just a 97-99 grill painted body color. The Badge isn't on becasue I painted it and the color didn't match. Being color blind sucks sometimes...

About the belt...I got a Gatorback belt for free so I put it on. Ever since its been squealing like a banshee upon startup until the car gets relatively warm. I'm going to try an OEM belt and see what happens. I also got a pully that I'm going to put on as well. Again, Thanks for all the help.
