Transmisson rebuid, what parts do i need?

I am having the famous whining noise from my transmission so I decided I should rebuild it. I was wondering if anyone knows which parts I should swap in a rebuild.

Thnaks

Are you sure you want to do this? I mean I think if your asking what you should change, you probably shouldnt be messing with the tranny anyway.

Well this is a very subjective matter. Because of the noise, you should replace both bearings on the input and main shafts. I would also replace the differential side bearings as well. That is 6 bearings total. However, you could get in there and discover a bad syncro or two or maybe even a gear that needs to be replaced. You really wont know until you crack the tranaxle open.

adithius: as you can see from i30ds post its really hard to know what might be in need of replacement before you crack the tranny open so i am asking around so that I have the obvious parts when i open it up, from there its a matter of luck. Just minimizing the amount of time ill have no car. At any rate if i cant fixit ill just buy a new tranny.

i30ds: Thank you for your input
