Weapon R Coilover Installation tips and review...kinda...

Yes, I agree...
:

But still, I figured some might be interested.

First of all, I have installed these only on my rear for the time being.
The front will be done next week when I have more time.
Since all four coilover sleeves are identical, I figure it will be just the same.
These were put on AGX's.

Okay, the installation manual that comes with the kit is a single page sheet with poor instructions.
My first setup was in the order as shown in the manual.
But there was a lot of grinding/bumping noise.

To make the long story really really short...
When installing the springs (there are two if you didn't know)...
Install the soft rated (flat spring) first and then place the harder spring (round spring) on top of it.
The round springs have a slightly larger inner diameter so it doesn't rub with the metal bushing that is on the piston of the strut. (Did that make sense???)

This is the opposite of the order shown in the manual but this reduced the noise greatly.

Yes, there is still some noise. But I can't hear it over my exhaust at idle.
So, overall I'm happy.

The reason why I got these fake coil overs was for the sole purpose of adjusting the ride height.
I didn't like the fact that after my subs and other junk in my trunk, my rear sagged a lot on my dropzone springs.
It was annoying cuz my exhaust would grind the floor at almost every ramp.
I wanted to be sure I would be able to adjust my height.

Having said that, although I will need to change all four to truly know, the ride quality is not bad at all. There is virtually no noise (explained above).
I think the struts have a bigger role than the springs at this point.
It is a bit bouncy tho....

OH! One more thing!
The softer spring will bottom out when you lower the car off the jack.
It kinda defeats the purpose, but what can you say about a $100 spring set.

Anyway.
So far, I'm satisfied with it.
Would I recommend it?
I'll tell you in a week...
