Looks like a well made piece.

Its a stillen 2 piece copy, basically making it a universal peice. It should bolt up to a cali 99+ pre cat. more applications, but another flange that could leak.

I don't have a problem with it being 2-piece...besides the extra area to leak.

I have a problem with making it universal and requiring the buyer to plug one of the extra o2 sensors.

They could at least have included a plug or something. If it's not done right, it could create turbulence.

I still have my old, non-functional O2 sensors. You can plug that hole shut with one of those. Don't weld it shut because if you want to take these baby's off later on and want to sell them, you have both options of cali and fed spec.

first off, thanks for the compliments on my bed sheets. I also like them very much. and about those "stains," well....

second, I think I will probably throw an old o2 sensor in the extra hole when I replace my dead ones. I might take my car someplace tomorrow to have them remove the rusty bolts from the old ypipe and put some new ones in because I heard thats the hardest part of a new ypipe install.

if you act now you can get it for $100 when you tell them you are with the maxima forum. Call 469-951-4188, and ask for John.

Here's some more info about the ypipe:

This was a second PM from him after I questioned the quality of the ypipe:

I don't know what is up with the eBay sellers offering this pipe (if it is, in fact, identical), other than the fact that I ordered one like it through an eBay seller and never got it!!!

I got mine from the same place as the group deal and mine was installed on a 1998 I30 -- the same car as a 4th gen Max -- without a single problem, except for removing the rusty bolts on my old Y-pipe. There is not a single flaw in the pipe I bought.

I cannot say if it will go on a 00-01 Max without making any kind of mod since I do not know what are the differences between the 4th Gen and 5th Gen Max.

If you have a 1995-99 Max or I30, then you will have zero problems installing it.

That is all that I can attest to. If you want more proof, you can talk directly to the mechanic who did the install.

Good call... getting an exhaust shop to remove and replace the old hardware will save ya a ton of time and effort...

I have 99 Cali spec, I got te stillen Y-Pipe, as it mentioned it is two piece. But for my year car, you don't need the additional piece. In the direction it mentioned the additional piece is for 97-98 I think.

how long is this deal avaliable?

Can anyone attest to the "flawless fitment" I would truely dislike to purchase it if, it isnt a "flawless" fit.

if its what its suppost to be then I'll bite.

i'd love to tell you how it fits but i'm currently having emissions issues and I don't want to install it until I get things sorted out and pass the test. Then I'll be glad to let you know how it fits and differences it made in my max's performance

is it just me, or does anyone else see that there's a slight difference in the diameter of the pipings where the y-pipe connects to the header. the part where there's a flange making it a 2-piece. seems to me that its a lil smaller. shouldn't the y-pipe be the same diameter throughout the whole pipe giving more gains because of the smooth flow??? sorry, not to bash or try to say anything bad bout the y-pipe, cause i'm really debating SS budget for $200 or this for $100....

so three gaskets are required right??would it help if i milled them down?cause wouldn't that create a restriction if the exhaust path on the gasket is smaller than the diameter of the exhaust path of the y pipe?

I do not think that any hardware is included. I was told to purchase the gasket from the dealer. It should be less than $3.

4 gaskets for a 95-98 max.... 2 crush rings for each manifold, 1 crush ring for the y pipe joint, and 1 gasket for the cat. For 99+ its one less manifold crush ring.

Gaskets/rings:

(Cali spec is the small crush ring, which should fit this pipe together. Fed specs need 2 of the large ones for install.)

O2 bung should be 18x1.5mm

stillens unit:

Thats a direct fit for all VQ30's so topspeeds should fit.

Can you please so kind to list the gaskets/crush rings necessary by part numbers and quantity.

For a 95 you say I need 4 gaskets. Are those 4 gaskets comprised of 2 crush rings for each manifold, 1 crush ring for the y pipe joint, and 1 gasket for the cat?

Which crush ring do I need two of?

Thanks,
Colin

When using a 2 piece Y pipe:

95-98
Two: 20691-38U00 (exhaust manifold to y pipe)
One: 20691-51E01 (y pipe to y pipe)
One: 20692-24U00 (y pipe to cat)

99+
One: 20691-38U00 (exhaust manifold to y pipe)
One: 20691-51E01 (front pre cat to y pipe)
One: 20692-24U00 (y pipe to cat)

Also if you replace the cat, 20692-24U00 is the gasket cat to b pipe.

I bet stillen sells a kit for thier y pipe that would work, and im sure cattman and/or warpspeed could get them also.
