New struts blew out in less than a week

I just installed my illuminas not even a week ago and they've already blown! I'm running the illuminas on eibachs. Only the rear blew out and they've been set to 4, the front are at 2. Has this happened to anyone else? How could they have blown ins uch a short period of time? Any thoughts

How do you know they're "blown"?

i heard a noise coming from my rear and i thought i forgot to tighten the scissor jack. i was leaning on the trunk and got off and it was bouncing. I pushed the rear down again and it just sprung up and down for a bit.

Take the wheel off and visually check the strut. See if there's any fluid on the outside that looks like oil.

maybe because it was running on such a high setting that it blew out. usually when you buy new parts, even coilovers, you run it in the middle setting for about a week or two for it to properly settle in. then you can go ahead and adjust the hell out of it.

why should you be scared? these are great aftermarket shocks that have been tried and tested over a long period of time. im running on a set and im very happy with them.

Tokico Illumina and KYB AGX are good stuffs if used properly. If your car is dropped too low then most shock and strut will not handle it. Just be careful or you will void the warranty. Like others have mentioned you need to let it break in first.

I think its my fault. I know eibachs have been known to blow tokicos. I was stupid and set them to 4 instead of something liek 2 or 3. Driving through these great northern nj roads didnt help any either.

No I actually just bought the last pair of the rears just before they closed. sorry. They're sending me those then I'll send them the blown ones and RMA them. When the process is done they credit me for the second pair of struts.

How do ya know that Eibachs have been known to blow Tokicos? I don't think that has anything to do with it. My Illuminas have 3500 miles on em and have gone through Eibachs, H&Rs, and Progress springs, but they're fine. Like someone else said, check em for leaks, check the spring seating, hardware, everything.... it may be something else.
