Hello all, I have a problem with my Auto transmission somestimes slipping out of 2nd gear and getting stuck in between gears(and you know the funny sound it makes when this happens). I have checked the fluid and it is fine...what else could I check? (Also O/D is on, off will fix it, but it didn't even use to do this with it on) Also when accelerating O/D or not, when the transmission goes to second gear, I hear a boom and the car jerks foward...Your help is much apperciated! (btw max has 128k on it and it has been ran HARD by previous owner..and a little by me heh)

 

i kinda had this problem on my celica. when it shifts into 2nd it shifted hard, hence i got my i30. but i quickly didn't drive the car. i quicly chaged the automatic trans filter on the car. n then flushed my tranny. i prob should of brought it somewhere to get it flushed since they use a high powerful machine to do so but it costs like $100. so i just drained and refilled my trans fluid like 5 times. was ok afterwards, but i dunno how its running now since i sold it..heh

 

The throttle sensor can cause a shift shock, but not slippage. Probably the only other thing to check would be your bank account balance, because it's probably gonna need a rebuild.

 

If the transmision is perfect when OD is off, would it still need a rebuild? or could that just be the computer "hunting for gears" when OD is on?
