LED needle mod question

hi ive read this walkthrough 2 times now and this specific section, like 10 times...
http://www.petah.org/maxima/gauge.htm
having 4 LED lights, i would need 1 foot speaker wire soldered to each, right?

also just after the sanding the factory orange from the needle part, the instructions say "Now we'll want to make the connections using the existing bulb connectors in the yellow circles.". so i take it that this means i solder neg and pos up with eachother, to the new led's speaker wire, to the corresponding old LED light?
these pictures dont say much because i dont know what this would have looked like before he worked on it.
any tips or help would be muuuuuuuuuch appreciated thanks alot

why not jus do as the door switch LED mod does, and un-solder the old LED's, and re solder the new ones on? if thats possible you wouldnt need speaker wire etc... but if it could be done i hope the writer considered it. i dont understand why that wouldnt work, besides brighter positioning of the LED with wire and tape, to the bottom of the needle.

I think he ment soldering the led to the speaker wire and then the speaker wire to the stock guage bulbs.

You are adding in leds behind the needles. The orginial bulbs are not leds.

are you just talking about taking out the orginial bulbs and putting leds in place of that? If so, then your needles wont light up as bright.

u leave the needle on and sand from under, from the guide it says theres only a thin bit of it on the bottm and it should come easily.

aznprid972: that makes alot more sense now...ha
but in the pictures, i cant even see the old LED's, or even where he's soldered anything up...theyre kinda vague.

im in canada and if i ask a store about an LED, they dont know anything about it. ive only found 10ma, im guessing milliamp. but dont know the MCd

also, since you cant get the orange off the needle, does it still look okay? if you wher using blue LED's did it look like a purple needle?

thanks all..im new to electronics...i took a class in first year highschool but didnt learn much ^^
i went and bought blue 5mm 1-2k mcd 3.5 w LEDs, 470 ohm resistors [ store recommended]...he did this calculation and came up with these. 12v/3.5v=470ohm resistors or somehting like that.
bought a soldering iron and soldered the resistors with a heat sink on, i learned how to solder in 2 min its easy. no mishaps and now im soldering on the speaker wire
when i bring the dash inside im going to get hung up...these pictures dont tell me much, i guess they assume ive done this kind of work before. he must have done this kind of thing as a living.
last step i need to figure out so that im sure is: from the speaker wire, to the old LED terminals. hopefuly when i get in there i can tell which is neg and which is pos.
any tips on this?
THANK YOOOU
