to drop a twinturbo 300zx powerplant in a max? This includes ecu, etc. If possible, how much would this cost?

300ZX TT in Max

On the contrary, I would say it is possible. Just not worth the money. I think the engine would fit without too much modification to the Max engine bay. But there's a whole host of other items that would need to be swapped out or modified as well, beginning with the tranny. In the end, it would be a big pain in the butt and cost an s/load of money.

just a thought, was thinking if you could get it from a wrecked donor, than the performance and price would be better than a supercharger.

Possibly less than a supercharger to buy. Way way more expensive and a giant pain in the behind to install.

IT HAS BEEN DONE

i have seen 3 300zx motors in 3max's... a single turbo in a 2nd gen and two twin turbos in a 3rd and 4th.. it was either in superstreet or turbo.. not to sure which one. there are some shopd that know what needs to be done. i think there was a problem with the engine mounts and oil or intercooler. but i have no clue is to where or who did it

The biggest issue at hand here is that the 300ZX motor is setup for rear wheel drive. I say if you want to do a engine swap wait until the new Maxima engine comes out and put that in your car and the 6spd tranny!

6 speed tranny

Anyone know where this tranny is coming from?
Some links reported that the Sentra SE-R was going to share the 6-speed with the Maxima SE-R. Is that going to be the same as the Z car?
Also, the Sentra SE-R is supposedly going to have a quaiffe-like differential. Will it be able to be bolted onto 3rd or 4th gen Maxes? I ask since 3rd and 5th gens VLSDs seem to be compatible with 4th gens.

Picture that... 3rd 4th or 5th gens with blown transmissions suddenly become 6spds with helical diffs!
