Tail light fuse blowin after ALTEZZA install
i installed ALTEZZA tail lights on my 95 SE, and all of the lights work except when i turn my headlights on it blows the 7.5 tail light fuse. My headlights work though. Every light works on my turnk, my brake light and my reverse light works except the light when my head light goes on.
The Fuse still blows when nothing is plugged into my trunk. Ive tried the factory harness and the new ones but it still blows. i upgraded to a 10 fuse and that blew too. Nissan wants 90$ to try and fix it, and they gave me some crap wire digram to go by.
I want to try myself, but i need a better wiring diagram. Any suggestions on what it could be? if anyone has a wiring diagram or anything that will help it would be greatly apprecieated!

there is nothing we can do for u over the net, why dont you triple check your wiring instead of posting.. and you will find your problem.

One other way of testing it, is to by pass the harness you put in. Just use some regular wire, to see if the fuses still pop.

Im hopeing some1 has a wiring diagram that would help me out kthx!
Is there a separate wire for each back light that runs to the fuse box or do they connect somewhere before then? I was wondering if it would work if i ran some wire from the fuse box to the lights if that would work and disconnect the old wire? or will that mess up other things?
Check the fitting of the bulb. Sometimes if it doesn't sit in the socket right, it will short out causing the fuse to blow. I had this problem when I installed Alteezas on my '95. (Years and years ago, R.I.P. my '95)

I tired that. Even when the harness's arent plugged in the fuse still blows. WHat things could i do to maybe determine where the problem might be? i look but i cant find where a wire might be broken. Its really frustrating when all i do is put new housing on my tail lights and now i have this problem. I can't drive at night :'(
Play with the bulbs and harnesses. Leave the bulbs in the sockets but dont plug them into the altezzas and press teh brakes, see what happens. I dont recall the lights having a ground on themselves, the harness has a ground. Use the same old bulbs you had. This is weird. Or it may be something else like the brake light switch.

The brake lights work, the Reverse lights work, but when i turn on the headlights nothing turns on in the back, and the fuse blows, even if the lights arent plugged in they still blow.
Check your ARS, anti-rice-system. its probably throwing a ghost code and blowing the fuse in hopes that you will return the altezzas out of frustration and go back to stock.
Okay now that i've been a *****, use a voltmeter and make sure no two wires are touching when they shouldnt be.

How do I check to see if the wires are touching with a voltmeter? im pretty sure it has to be the one wire that turns on when i turn my headlights on. but how do i test to see if its touching another wire or my car.....
PS: I went to pep boys to ask for a haynes manual and Anti-Rice-System but they dont have any of the haynes manuals......and they didnt know what the ARS system was.....
Thanks for the info keep it comming

I can't you people! This isnt a war between red/clear and altezzas! The war is over peace is thoughout the land. We the people cannot be divided between red/clear and Altezzas! It is when and only when we work together that the higher truth is realized. We are all humans, we share equality. Are the Red/clear people so different from the Altezas people? When in need do we not turn to each other and ask for help? We MUST have respect for one another, do not judge someone by the backs of there cars, or other mods you may not agree with. WE are all Maxima owners, and that is all that matters!
but ser i really need a wiring diagram.
tommorow i am going to spend all day trying to fix this ish with my cuz, and say a pray for me so i dont have to goto the dealership

Dude, a quick way of solving your problem is just hook up a digital volt meter to your taillight wire and see if there is a short anywhere in the line voltage. See if you have at least 12V in the line. Any other significant number ( a high number, for example) means that you have a short somewhere in that line. Also, spend $10.00 on a Hayne's manual at your local auto parts store. It well worth it. You'll find everything you need, including wiring diagrams.

and thats when the fuse blows..hmmmm, does the other tail lights come on at this time too?
When checking for a 12v connection does the car have to be on? cause i mean the fuse pops when i try to turn on the parking lights. Does each parking light have its own wire run throughtout the car? or do they connect some where?

Unplug the left side then see if it blows the fuse then disconnect the right side try it again. If only 1 side blows the fuse then you know what side the problem is in.
Ive tried having both sides unplugged and they still blew and i tried just the outsides out and that blew too....im gonna go try everything again for a couple hours thanks for the input!
