Rattles!!!

Ok so I read the stickies, there is a how to on how to eliminate center console rattles, but that's not the source of any rattling I'm getting in my max. I found a few threads, and one guy said that the light fixture in his glovebox was causing lots of rattling, so I'm going to check on that tomorrow morning. I'm also going to take off my door panels and see if anything is floating around inside those.

Aside from that a lot of my rattling seems to be coming from the A-pillars though. Is there a way to remove the trim from the pillar and possibly reattach it? Or if not would adding a front strut bar help eliminate quite a few rattles or would I not notice much of a difference? Any advice is appreciated, thanks!

If it's coming from the pillar area, it's the pillar hitting the dash. Rip out the pillar, be careful not to crack it, and put some anti-squeak/rattle tape either on it or where the dash meets the pillar. Pop pillar back in.

Thanks Dave any special steps I should take while taking out the pillar? Do I just pop it out with a flathead screwdriver or is there more to it than that?

The wider the tool to pry it off the better. Make sure it's not too thin though. Peel back the rubber stripping along the pillar and stick the tool in there, pry it out.

No need to remove the pillar trim, just stuff some soft object inbetween the gap to prevent the pillar trim from rubbing.

The only thing that rattles on my car is spoiler resonance over big bumps.

The problem is that my slide panel for the moonroof fell off the track, actually one side broke off so it can't sit on the track right. Whenever I try to open or close the slide panel it's hard cause it goes in crooked. One day I got pissed and just jammed that thing backwards. Next thing I know the metal piece broke off. I just left it there. It's not making noise really, only when I close the door. I'll just rip it off or something. Still have the spare assembly in the junk car.

Thanks Loe Max, I'll try that first and if things aren't solved maybe I'll remove it then. By the way I'm the guy you hosted the Borla clips for and it looks like you still have them hosted so if I'm taking up too much space please feel free to delete them! You've had them up for me long enough (by the way thanks again!)

Wow guys sounds like that sunroof thing is a b__ch! Goodluck with that, thankfully my rattles aren't being caused by that. They're all definitely coming from the pillars and the 2 front doors. Any other areas I should check which tend to be common sources of rattles in our cars? My mom's '97 Avalon with 160k on it has less rattles than my '97 Max with 100k...it sux!

Trust me, peeling back the trim takes 2 seconds and makes it much, much easier.
