A quick IACV question?

The other day i cleaned out my friends iacv and he had a gasket behind it. Ive cleaned out mine a bunch of times and never once saw a gasket. I also used the search function and found that some people have it and some dont. Should I buy one for the hell of it? Car runs and idles fine. btw we both has 97's made 2 months apart and i know for a fact ive never had a gasket behind there. Thanks

I just cleaned mine today and there's a gasket there.

I did mine for the first time and oh man, does that help a great deal with throttle response.

Yea, there's a gasket. Usually gaskets are there to allow the metal to expand and contract with hot and cold temperatures. The fact is that the gasket will eliminate as many voids between both metal surfaces.
