Warpspeed VS Budget Y-pipe

Hey guys please don't flame me for another thread about y-pipe but its just confusing that sometimes everybody loves their budget another time you hate it, same with warpspeed. So my question is which one would you prefer/the best from this two or what would you recommend. Thanks.

The poll isn't working. It's pretty hard to compare the two unless you've owned both on the same car and I doubt you will find anyone who has.

I have a stainless steel Budget y-pipe and would not recommend going with an aluminized pipe from Budget or Warpspeed. My y-pipe was installed last June. There were no fitment issues and I have experienced absolutely no bees in the can sound. At idle and when cruising the vehicle is as quiet as it was with the OEM part. At WOT, coupled with my K&N panel filter, there is a bit of a growl that I quite like. When you put your foot in it, you're forced back into your seat when you get above 4K rpms - that is where you will recognize the performance improvement.

I have a SS Budget Y-pipe on my 96. I have had no problems with it soundwise. Fitment looked like it would be slightly off when I took it out of the box, but it was actually fine once I put it on. I also had trouble deciding, but then when Budget when all I heard were people *****ing about their Warpspeeds.

Yes I read that in a post about 2 weeks ago. There were pictures to show the problem. I haven't heard of any fitment concerns with a 4th Gen.

Speaking from experience here, I wish I would have gone with Budget or just forked over the extra bones for cattman or $tillen brand ypipes. My Warpspeed has a nasty raspy/hissing sound under full throttle, not really a bee's 'n' can sound. It just sounds like a leaky flex section. I'm hoping that when I put my exhaust wrap on it will eliminate most of it. Probably just wishful thinking tho.

When me and a bunch of Maxima owners went down to Budget, one of our buddies was getting a used WSP y-pipe installed on his 3rd gen. They showed us the design different between the WSP y-pipe and the budget y-pipe and explained why the WSP had that 'bees in a can' sound'. Apparently the flex section when it got heated/cooled, over time, it would start to move inwards, (like caving in on itself). The Budget y-pipe has these ring pieces all around the inside of the flex to prevent that from happening.

By the way, i am in no way or whatsoever affiliated with them, but i thought i'd offer my 0.02 on it because i did see exactly what he was talking about with my own eyes.

Your in brooklyn.. soo automatically cough up the extra money and get The Budget Stainless Steel Pipe, Because after all that salt n rusting(especially in ny), at full throttle, the warpspeed will sound like bees in a can..

i have had both wsp and now i currently have the budget. just got my ss budget installed couple of days ago and i love it. Same for wsp but it did crack on me a few times while i have had it in my car.
Too early to be judging the budget now, but i guess in about 3 years, we'll see how the budget holds.

THEY ARE THE SAME THING. You can get a stainless version from Warpspeed, it just costs a little more than the $160-shipped aluminized version. Most people are satisfied with either company. Some people have had fitment issues with either company. YOU MAY BE ONE OF THEM. There's now way to know until you order.

I like my Warpspeed y-pipe, but I now wish I had spend a few bucks more and purchased the stainless version. Warpspeed people were friendly and courteous, but it wasn't always easy to talk to Dallas, the only guy there who really makes the parts and can help with technical issues (I bought a full exhaust and had some muffler fitment issues).

Go for the cheapest stainless one since you are in NY and it will last longer. Seems like the aluminized begins corrosion the moment you put it on. I doubt it will last more than 4-5 years. But then again, the OEM original was aluminized and lasted almost 10 years...

dont mean to post jack, but if you painted with high temp paint or powder coated a pipe would that protect it from rust? or should i just get stainless?

I can answer this question within a few weeks... I'm taking off my warpspeed superflo and putting on a budget y-pipe.

If you have read warpspeeds guarantees... they guarantee no rust for the aluminized steel models for 4 years, or else you can just swap your y-pipe for a new one.

Four years isn't very long. I suspect an aluminized y-pipe would take somewhat longer than that to be adversely affected by rust, unless it was driven in the ocean.

I voted for the Warpspeed Y-pipe because it has been great for me for the year and a half that I have had it.

I have heard good things about the Budget one too though.

From what I hear, they are both pretty quality products.

They don't guarantee NO RUST, they guarantee NO RUST-THROUGH. That's a huge difference.

The aluminized pipe will be have superficial rust after just a few months. Mine is rust covered over much of its length after just one NY winter. The rust is just superficial for now. And the underside of your car doesn't need to look pretty.

Here's the reality: If you don't plan to keep your car for more than 5 years, the aluminized is fine. If you plan to keep your 4th gen until you die, you gotta go stainless!

k- thats great and all, but i might be getting a deal on an aluminzed pipe so i wanted to protect it since salt lake winters aren't mild. so if i powdercoated it, is it a waste? will it do what i want it to do? or would high temp paint be sufficient?

i voted for the warpspeed, its what i currently have. the removal of the stock y pipe is a B!TCH. but the time and effort worth it. i'd prolly both for both b/c budget and warpspeed are well known here on teh org, but i would like to hear what a budget sounds like.

I have a one-year old stainless steel Budget y-pipe, coupled with a K&N panel filter, and there is no bees in the can sound whatsoever. There were no fitment issues either. Unfortunately, ptatohed had a bad experience recently upon delivery of his Budget y-pipe, but I think that's an isolated incident and would send it back collect and demand another.

I plan on keeping my car for some years to come, so I didn't consider aluminized.

Still can not make up my mind for the certain one: a lot of good opinions for both ob them. But, since I spend most of the year in NYC and you know how salty the winters are here, I am considering a stainless steel one from Budget. But it has been a lot of negative info on the Budget lately, so I am a little scared to get it... What about alluminized one? How bad is the rust on it? Thanks
